FACEBALL (RIVERHILL SOFT / BPS / XANTH SOFTWARE)

SUPER CD-ROM 2 (JAPANESE VERSION)

Faceball was originally produced by BPS (Bullet-Proof Software), softhouse created by the famous Tetris developer, Alexei Pazhitnov. Faceball was ported to the PC-ENGINE by Riverhill Soft and itīs an extreme rare example of a 3D real-time game in this console.

Matches take place within a labyrinth, and there are two different kind of games in Faceball. In Battle mode, the main goal is to destroy your opponent... if you kill it for 5 times, youīre the winner (3 shots are needed to kill or be killed). In Race mode, you must collect some "eggs" widespreaded throughout the labyrinth and put them within special "red-flashing" areas. You can play against the computer or, also, against a friend (2-players mode).

Even though Faceball is extremely simple regarding on graphic and sound aspects, it is also a damn funny game! The gameplay is easy and intuitive (Button I to shoot, Button II to turn on the map) and the game is not that hard... in order to recover your energy, all you have to do is stay still for a while. It takes some time to get used with Faceballīs gamestyle but, as soon as you get the point, youīll surely have lots of fun for a long time.

Faceball isnīt a masterpiece but, fortunately, itīs not a Baby Jo (help!!). Itīs an amusing game, specially on 2-players mode, when you play against that tempered friend of yours who canīt stand a lot of losses in a row!    ^__^
