VALIS IV (LASER SOFT / TELENET JAPAN)

CD-ROM 2 SYSTEM (JAPANESE VERSION)

Fourth and last chapter of the Valis saga, released back in 1992. Valis III is a game that previously showed how powerful the PC-ENGINE actually was, and Valis IV followed the same path, with excellent graphics, outstanding musics and tons of memorable animated cinemas. Just like in the previous game, you can also choose among three different characters, each one with very unique abilities. This will certainly give you itches to play Valis IV over and over again, until you´ve fully explored the stages with all those characters.

Years have passed since the fierce battle in which Yuko defeated Glames (Valis III), and everything seems to be nice and quiet until a new threat arise. Galgear (or Garugia, in Japanese) and his army were imprisoned for a long time within a crystal, buried deep in the ocean. The prison is broken, and now Galgear is free to spread the terror and tyrany all over Dreamland and the Human World.

Yuko is no longer the Valis Warrior. She has become a Goddess, and she´s now responsible for the surveillance of magic swords. But the world needs a new warrior, and this is the time when Lena Brande enters the stage. Lena is a lovely red-haired girl trying to become the new Valis Warrior, but in order to prove that she actually deserves such honorable title, she´ll have to face a challenge proposed by Yuko herself. Will Lena succeed?

Just like the previous Valis games, this one has plenty of remarkable characters, such as Amu (Lena´s sister), and Cham and Valna, the "stars" of Valis III, return in a very special role.

If you already know the Super Nintendo version, forget it! The PCE version is completely different, with more stages, tons of anime scenes and a well-developed story. The only negative aspect on Valis IV is that there´s no English version of it... those who don´t understand a little bit of Japanese might become a little lost, regarding of the main plot, but this isn´t a deal big enough to spoil the fun.

A must-have game, highly recommended to any PCE-maniac and, above all, to any fan of the Valis series.
